One of the basic principles of lifelong learning is that education comprises formal education, non-formal education and informal education . The significance of "lifelong learning" as a concept has been widely recognized in Thailand. Apart from compulsory education, Thailand has organized adult education or non-formal education to provide an opportunity for those who have missed formal education to have a second chance education, provide continuing education and vocational education as well as informal education services to those outside formal education system.
