           With respect to local funding of all municipalities, the major source of educational expenditure also comes from central government subsidies which have remarkably increased from 2,693.7 million Baht in 1994 to 4,153 million Baht in 1997. In 1998, the central government subsidies for local education in all municipalities stand at 4,168 million Baht due to financial and economic crisis. The largest proportion of the central government subsidies has been allocated for primary education programme as shown on Chart 5.4.
